Bio: Genevieve Ma’yet is much more than the lovable science teacher she plays at Booker T Washington High School for the Performance and Visual Arts. She is the first transgender teacher at Booker T Washington High School for the Performance and Visual Arts, the first transgender student commencement speaker at Texas Woman’s University, and the first transgender woman to solo hike Sawtooth Ridge in California.

Additionally, she is a published poet and author, a certified SCUBA diver and personal trainer, a painter, avid outdoors person, and currently a member on the Earthx Education Advisory Council. She completed two marathons, gathered two master’s degrees, written two books, and has plans for a third masters and book to be written.

Moreover, she was one of ten teachers nationally to earn the Staples #ThankATeacher Sweepstakes Award, NASA – Minority University Research and Education Program (MUREP) STEM Educator Institute Attendee, guest speaker at Disrupt HR: *Transcending the Transgender Mythos,* and guest speaker on Visions of Education: *Episode 39: Supporting Transgender Students.*
