Laura Galeano (she/ella)
PFLAG Connects Manager
Laura Galeano (she/her) is the PFLAG Connects Manager, helping to bring the PFLAG Chapter Network online to extend support, education, and advocacy efforts into the digital space. Before coming to PFLAG National, she led rapid-response advocacy and case work at Amnesty International USA where she supported hundreds of groups and members in their human rights work. Laura is a proud graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice where she obtained both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in International Criminal Justice. While at John Jay, she taught courses on gender, sexuality, and activism to undergraduate students. In her downtime, Laura enjoys a warm cup of coffee and stretching out on her yoga mat.
Sachelle Brooks (she/her)
Chapter Engagement Coordinator, Southern Region
Sachelle Brooks joined PFLAG National in October 2019 as the Chapter Engagement Coordinator. Her focus is to work in collaboration with the Regional Director’s Council to support chapter engagement and advance a portfolio of programs that benefit the chapters of PFLAG. Before joining PFLAG National, Sachelle was the Membership & Programs Coordinator for NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. She worked to expand regional chapters, coordinated and developed programs, and recruited new members into the association. She is excited to expand her horizons and support another LGBTQ-focused organization, such as PFLAG. Graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University at Madison, NJ, where she pursued a major in Communications and double minored in Public Relations and Political Communications with a focus in crisis management. January 2020 will be Sachelle’s fourth year officially in DC.
Jamie Henkel (she/her)
Learning & Inclusion Manager
Jamie Henkel (she/her) is the Learning & Inclusion Manager at PFLAG National. She joined the PFLAG National staff in April 2008 as Operations Associate. Prior to her time at PFLAG she completed two internships with the Richmond Peace Education Center and Hope in the Cities. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she majored in Political Science and International Studies with a concentration in Social Justice Studies. She also received her Master’s Degree in Political Science from George Mason University.
